Point Pickup builds a more sustainable gig economy as workers look for flexible and attractive work options

STAMFORD, Conn., Jan. 26, 2022 – Point Pickup Technologies, the largest provider of white-labeled, same-day fulfillment, delivery and flex worker services for the retail industry, announced today at the Manifest Conference the full deployment of GigPoint, a one-of-its-kind platform intended to create the Care Economy for the ever-expanding network of flex workers. With GigPoint 1.0, Point Pickup is promoting a healthy work environment by helping flex workers better manage crucial aspects of their work and lives with job-based rewards and vital services such as banking and insurance.

Following the successful invitation-only beta launch in October 2021, the GigPoint loyalty app is now available to Point Pickup’s growing community of over 450,000 flex workers, one of the fastest growing communities of flex workers in the retail industry. Point Pickup is the first company to provide a flexible workforce platform along with its fulfillment and delivery services, offering retailers and flex workers unprecedented access to labor and job options — initial services include warehouse sorting, dark store picking-and-packing, in-store shopping and same-day home delivery.

“The flex worker economy is only sustainable as long as people feel they are benefiting from the model, which means having more control over managing their work schedules, reward opportunities, and access to affordable health and financial services,” said Tom Fiorita, founder and CEO of Point Pickup. “And the happier our flex workers remain, the better worker retention and reliability we can provide to our retail partners.  This much-needed app is now immediately available to all flex workers within the Point Pickup community across the U.S.”

By completing successful orders through Point Pickup, flex workers will earn points that they can exchange for rewards like cash bonuses, vacations, service and product discounts, and other perks. Through PointTrust (in partnership with Sutton Bank, Member FDIC), flex workers can manage their finances effectively without worrying about overdraft or monthly fees. They can also purchase multiple affordable insurance packages, including health, dental, and vision, all through GigPoint.

“I feel more incentivized to do deliveries when earning loyalty points,” said beta user and Point Pickup flex worker, Tyler Harris. “The GigPoint points program motivates me to work more with Point Pickup so that I can redeem them for useful rewards.”

GigPoint is available via the Point Pickup flex worker app or as a downloadable standalone app.
